It’s just great to be back playing in this building once again

Anthony, who in 2003 led Syracuse to its only national title, was the first player to be introduced before the Knicks lost to the Philadelphia 76ers, 98-90, in a preseason game Monday night. The fans, most of whom wore Anthony jerseys or Syracuse apparel, rose to their feet to give him an ovation. Of the six preseason games the Knicks will play, this was the one — added to the schedule late — that Anthony looked forward to most. “It’s just great to be back playing in this building once again,” Anthony said. “Tonight was just to give something back to the fans.” With the start of the regular season 10 days away Men's Nike NFL Arizona Cardinals #4 Kevin Kolb Game Team Color Jersey, Anthony wanted to have fun here. Coach Mike Woodson drew up the Knicks’ first play to get the ball to Anthony, who scored the first points of the game on a baseline jumper. Anthony said he wanted to play well for the fans, and he did his best to put on a show. With each basket, the crowd roared. He finished with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. He also played 34 minutes, mostly because he asked Woodson to keep him in the game. “They love him here,” Woodson said. “He had a great career here at Syracuse.” Leading to the game, Anthony reminisced about the eight months he was on campus. He spoke of how Jim Boeheim showed him tough love but treated him like a son, of how magical his freshman season was and of how thrilled he was to return on Monday. “We formed something special the short time I was up there,” Anthony said before adding about Boeheim, “He guided me through those eight months and showed me what it takes to win.” In 2007, Anthony gave Syracuse $3 million to start a fund-raising campaign to help build a new basketball facility on campus. At the time, it was the biggest donation a professional athlete had given to his university. For his efforts, the university named the building the Carmelo K. Anthony Basketball Center in 2009. “I do a lot in this community just out of the goodness of my heart,” Anthony said. “For me, this is where it all started. It’s only right for me to give back.” Anthony was on campus when the construction started, but his first visit inside the center was Sunday after the Knicks’ practice. “It was kind of surreal to be walking about there and seeing my name plastered outside of the building,” Anthony said. “It was shocking to me just to see that. I called my family and sent them pictures. It’s one of those moments that I’ll never forget.” The facility has two practice courts and a weight room. Boeheim, who sat near the court for Monday’s game, has his office on the second floor. Images of Anthony, including his jersey, are displayed throughout the center. Inside a hallway just outside the courts, Syracuse’s 81-78 victory over Kansas for the national championship is shown on a 24-hour loop. Anthony led Syracuse that night with 20 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. The championship trophy is also displayed in the hallway. Brandon Triche, a senior guard for Syracuse, remembers that game and the 2003 season well. It is one reason he choose to play at Syracuse. Triche is from Jamesville, N.Y., just outside Syracuse, and he knows how much Anthony is revered in the area. Triche said he appreciated having Anthony in the gym he helped build to watch his alma mater practice Sunday. “For him to come back it means even more, just because he’s always doing stuff for the community,” Triche said. “He’s good at basketball, but he’s also helping others out, which is a great thing.” During the Knicks’ practice Sunday, Anthony took a moment to look at the championship banner near the top of the Carrier Dome. http://www.discountglasses-hot.com/

Underpinning that bleaker scenario

Advanced economies are risking recession, the international lending organization said in a quarterly update of its World Economic Outlook, and the malaise is spreading to more dynamic emerging economies such as China. The IMF forecasts that the world economy will expand 3.3 percent this year, down from the estimate of 3.5 percent growth it issued in July. Its forecast for growth in 2013 is 3.6 percent, down from 3.9 percent three months ago and 4.1 percent 49ers jerseys for sale in April. Underpinning that bleaker scenario are the assumptions that Europe will continue to ease monetary policy and that the U.S. will avert a crushing blow to growth by fending off a so-called "fiscal cliff" that could result from a failure to reach a compromise on its budget law and tax cuts. Conditions could worsen if the United States doesn't deal with its budget crisis soon, the IMF said. "Downside risks have increased and are considerable," the fund said. It said its forecasts are based "on critical policy action in the euro area and the United States, and it is very difficult to estimate the probability that this action will materialize." The IMF has urged the U.S. to raise the ceiling on the level of debt the government can issue, which is capped by law. In August 2011, a battle between the Obama administration and Congress over raising the limit wasn't resolved until the U.S. almost defaulted on its debt. Global efforts to ease credit and increase the amount of money available for lending are helping, but appear to be yielding diminishing returns, as are fiscal stimulus policies, the IMF warned. "Because uncertainty is high, confidence is low, and financial sectors are weak, the significant fiscal achievements have been accompanied by disappointing growth or recessions," it said. Among other things, it says governments need to do more to relieve the burden of household debt that is constraining spending power and thus crippling demand. While large corporations pay record low rates for credit, households and small companies struggle to obtain bank loans, it said. Fortifying domestic demand is all the more crucial given weakening trade trends. The IMF forecasts that growth in world trade volume will slump to 3.2 percent this year from 5.8 percent last year and 12.6 percent in 2010. "Low growth and uncertainty in advanced economies are affecting emerging market and developing economies through both trade and financial channels, adding to homegrown weaknesses," the IMF's chief economist, Olivier Blanchard, said in a statement. But he told reporters Tuesday a more optimistic scenario was possible if the right measures are taken, such as fixing banks in European countries and reducing the uncertainty about U.S. policies. "The case for an upside scenario is stronger than it has been," he said at the opening of the IMF meeting in Tokyo. He noted some positive signs in the U.S. economy such as a turnaround in the housing market. The IMF also sees the slowdown in China as part of a shift from the past double-digit growth to a rate that is "sustainable," a process he described as "a soft landing." And the slowdown in developed nations had pushed down exports, the key factor behind the slowdown in China, Blanchard and other IMF officials said. The IMF raised the U.S. growth forecast slightly, to 2.2 percent this year from 2 percent in July. For 2013, though, it expects U.S. growth of 2.1 percent, down from 2.3 percent. Among the 17 nations that use the euro, low growth in the major "core economies," such as Germany and France, will be offset by outright contractions in the smaller economies, leading real gross domestic product to fall by about 0.4 percent in 2012, the IMF said. It forecasts growth in the euro area will stay flat in the first half of 2013 and tick up to about 1 percent in the second half of the year, the IMF said womens buffalo bills jersey. The report was released just ahead of the World Bank-IMF annual meeting, which is being held in Tokyo this week. The gathering of some 10,000 bankers, executives and officials will likely refocus attention on Japan's failure to escape its own economic slump two decades after its own financial implosion in the early 1990s. The IMF said it expects growth in Japan to hit 2.2 percent this year but to slacken further as reconstruction from the March 2011 disasters winds down, falling to 1.2 percent in 2013. Japan, whose population is both shrinking and aging faster than elsewhere, is confronting problems of high debt and stagnation, it said. As usual, the bright spots are developing economies that were less affected by the global financial crisis, where rising employment and strong demand will help support growth, the IMF said. China's economy will likely expand 7.8 percent this year, down from July's 8 percent forecast, though a pickup in construction projects is expected to spur growth late in the year. India's economy will grow 4.9 percent, down from 6.1 percent. And Brazil's growth rams home jerseys will be only 1.5 percent, compared to 2.5 percent. The IMF advised policymakers to devise stronger medium-term fiscal and structural reforms to shore up confidence in the growth potential of the advanced economies. Only then, will investor confidence in markets and public debt be restored. "Unless governments spell out how they intend to effect the necessary adjustment over the medium term, a cloud of uncertainty will continue to hang over the international economy, with downside risks for output and employment in the short term," it said.

I, like most Americans

"I, like most Americans, believe that oakley vintage the Second Amendment guarantees an individual the right to bear arms," Obama told members of the National Urban League at their annual convention in New Orleans. "I think we recognize the traditions of gun ownership that passed on from generation to generation, that hunting and shooting are part of a cherished national heritage. "But I also believe that a lot of gun owners would agree that AK47s belong in the hands of soldiers, not in the hands of criminals. That mens oakley sunglasses they belong on the battlefield of war, not on the streets of our cities. I believe the majority of gun owners would agree we should do everything possible to prevent criminals and fugitives from purchasing weapons, and we should check someone's criminal record before they can check out a gun seller." So far, so good. But what the president said next negated the good job. He called for new restrictions to keep guns cheapest price out of the hands of the mentally unstable. Sure, like that's going to happen in a country that cares about sound mental health less than it cares about gun control. And how does one determine at a gun show or in a gun shop or on a Detroit street corner how someone is mentally unstable? I can just see it. A street corner. Low lights. Or broad daylight. "Yo, Pookie! I need a piece." "OK. But did you kill anybody this week? Do you remember your dreams? Is somebody trying to steal your thoughts?" I can see it. A crowded gun show. Children watching. "Hey Fred, let me have that there big 'un!" "OK, Ralph, but first lemme ask you something: You been having any dark thoughts? How's your self-esteem?" Yeah, right. America doesn't have enough primary care doctors to fulfill the mandates of the Affordable Health Care Act, a necessary but poorly planned program that's cheapest price intended to help Americans but doesn't provide all that's needed to do it. So America certainly doesn't have enough psychiatrists to do mental health checks on potential gun owners. That is not what is needed. What is needed is not a gun ban, which will never happen, but a weapons ban: It must be illegal to sell assault weapons to anyone who does not work for the Department of Defense. Unlike tax plans that treat people of different incomes differently, the needed weapons plan is simpler: No assault rifles off the battlefield. Period ray ban 2012 outlet. Four years ago, then-candidate Obama declared at the Democratic National Convention that "the reality of gun ownership may be different for hunters in rural Ohio than they are for those plagued by gang violence in Cleveland, but don't tell me we can't uphold the Second Amendment while keeping AK47s out of the hands of criminals." Say that. No, really, say that now wholesale oakley sunglasses. President Obama, not candidate Obama, has a job to do: prevent the next terrorist attack. That is what happened in Aurora, Colo. A domestic terrorist shot 70 people.

He is in an election year

Christie had been slated to take oakley dispatch the vice chairman's post for several months but recently decided against doing so, according to several governors who attended the association's annual meeting. He cited time constraints, given his current role and planned 2013 reelection campaign, as the reason for his decision. Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin (R) was elected vice chairwoman Sunday morning after Christie asked her to take the post, while Delaware Gov. Jack Markell (D) was elected chairman. Under the NGA's bylaws, Fallin is in line to become chairwoman next year as part of a planned annual bipartisan rotation. "He is in an election year. Governor Christie called me and asked if I would move into the vice chairman's slot," Fallin told HuffPost Sunday Get top ray ban special offer this summer SFDG9062. "He will wait for a better time. He is a great leader of the NGA. I was pleased that he offered me the opportunity and he said that there were other things he wanted to take care of in his state." Christie was reelected as a member of the NGA executive committee Sunday and will therefore remain a part of the association's leadership. Also on the executive committee are Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) and Arkansas Gov. Mike Beebe (D), among others. Markell confirmed that Christie declined based on the amount of time the two leadership positions would take over the next two years. He noted that in addition to Christie's duties in Trenton, he is seeking a second term as governor in 2013 and is currently vice chairman of the Republican Governors Association. "He realized it was the time commitment men oakley sunglasses discount oakley-188, he told me this," Markell said. "Governor Fallin will be great." Christie's spokesman could not be reached for immediate comment. Christie attended parts of the NGA conference here on Saturday, including a closed-door lunch for governors and an RGA reception Saturday night, where he addressed the crowd. He was spotted walking into a closed-door meeting with Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell (R) Saturday afternoon and did not answer questions from reporters. He did not attend Sunday morning's business session. Fallin, who will oversee the NGA's finance committee and Center for Best Practices, said she plans to utilize the vice chairman's role to help promote best practices for state governments and forge a working relationship between the states and the federal government. A former congresswoman, Fallin said there are a variety of common issues the states can focus on, including the impact of federal budget cuts, health care costs, taxes, the federal debt ceiling and the alternative minimum tax. "There are so many big issues going on nationally to build consensus on oakley sunglasses clearance," she said. This is not Fallin's first experience running a national group. During her three terms as Oklahoma's lieutenant governor, she chaired the National Lieutenant Governors Association and the Aerospace States Association. Other governors said they understood Christie's decision to bow out of the NGA role due to time constraints. Washington Gov. Christine Gregoire (D), a former NGA chairwoman, told HuffPost that while the NGA staff handles much of the work involved, she had to put aside time to oversee the association and attend various NGA meetings. http://www.sunglassesshop-buy.com/

The trade group of purchasing managers

Production and exports declined ray ban cheap, and the number of new orders plunged, according to a monthly report released Monday by the Institute for Supply Management. The slowdown comes as U.S. employers have scaled back hiring, consumers have turned more cautious, Europe faces a recession and manufacturing has slowed in big countries like China. "This is not good," said Dan Greenhaus, chief economic strategist at BTIG, an institutional brokerage. Though the report "does not mean recession for the broader economy, it is still a terribly weak number." The trade group of purchasing managers said its index of manufacturing activity fell to 49.7. That's down from 53.5 in May. And it's the lowest reading since July 2009, a month after the Great Recession officially ended. Readings below 50 indicate contraction. Economists said the manufacturing figures were consistent with growth at an annual rate of 1.5 percent or less. That would be down from the wholesale rayban sunglasses January-March quarter's already tepid annual pace of 1.9 percent. "Our forecast that the U.S. will grow by around 2 percent this year is now looking a bit optimistic," said Paul Dales, an economist at Capital Economics. Stocks fell sharply after the report was released at 10 a.m. But investors appeared to shake off the bad manufacturing news by the end of the day. The Dow Jones industrial average recovered most of its early losses to close down just 8.7 points at 12,871. And broader indexes ended the day up. Most economists aren't yet predicting another recession. Though the ISM report suggests manufacturing is contracting, it typically takes a sustained reading below 43 to signal the economy isn't growing. Still, U.S. manufacturing, which has helped drive growth since the recession ended, is faltering at a precarious time. Americans have pulled back on spending, which drives roughly 70 percent of growth. Europe's economy is likely in recession, which has hurt U.S. exports. And China's manufacturing sector grew in June at its slowest pace in seven months, according to a survey released Sunday by the state-affiliated China mac cosmetics online Federation of Logistics and Purchasing. Manufacturing will likely stay weak for the next few months. The ISM's gauge of new orders, a measure of future activity, plunged from 60.1 to 47.8. That's the first time it has fallen below 50 since April 2009, when the economy was still in recession. Fewer new orders reflect growing concerns of businesses. In addition to slower global growth and less spending by U.S. consumers, many companies worry that U.S. lawmakers won't extend a package of tax cuts at the end of the year. Bricklin Dwyer, an economist at BNP Paribas, said the uncertainty "has left businesses unwilling to invest." A gauge of production in the ISM's survey fell to its lowest level in more than three years. U.S. factories are also reporting less overseas demand. A measure of exports dropped to 47.5, its lowest level since April 2009. A gauge of employment edged down but remained at a healthy level of 56.6. That suggests factories may still be adding jobs. Manufacturers have reported job gains for eight straight months. Overall hiring has slowed sharply this spring. Employers added an average of only 73,000 jobs per month in April and May. That's much lower than the average of 226,000 added in the first three months of this year. The unemployment rate rose in May to 8.2 percent fard from 8.1 percent, the first increase in a year. Worries about slowing job growth are outweighing the benefits of lower gas prices. A measure of consumer confidence fell in June for the fourth straight month.

Democrats and Republicans agree the No Child Left Behind law is broken

Arkansas, Missouri, South Dakota, Utah and Virginia will be freed from the No Child Left Behind requirement that all students test discount ray ban sunglasses proficient in math and science by 2014, a goal the nation remains far from achieving. In exchange, the states and all others granted waivers must develop accountability plans that set new targets for raising achievement, advancing teacher effectiveness, preparing all students for careers and college, and improving the performance of low-performing schools. "We all understand that the best ideas oakley sunglasses clearance don't come from Washington, and moving forward, these states will have increased flexibility with federal funds and relief from NCLB's mandates, allowing them to develop locally-tailored solutions to meet their unique educational challenges," Education Secretary Arne Duncan said in draft remarks released to The Associated Press. Democrats and Republicans agree the No Child Left Behind law is broken, but have been unable to agree on how to fix it. The law has been praised for shining a light on the performance of subgroups like minorities, low-income, English language learner and special education students, but also has led to an increasing number of schools being labeled cosmetic wholesale as "failing" and subject to a prescribed set of interventions — even if just one of these groups didn't meet learning targets. Critics of the law also say it has had the unintended effect of encouraging instructors to teach to the test and has led schools to narrow their curriculums. Duncan and the White House have pushed for a comprehensive reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, but there has been little movement in Congress over the past two years. After Duncan warned that 82 percent of schools could be labeled "failing" — a figure many said was inflated, but nonetheless agreed to be rising — the Obama administration announced last year that states could apply for waivers. Republicans have charged that poudre pour the president with overreaching his authority and imposing his vision for education on the states.

Tarter remains driven by the possibility that an extraterrestrial

Jill Tarter, the astronomer who was the real-life basis for the alien-hunting character played by Jodi Foster in the film Contact, is stepping down as men's affordable 2012 shoe fashions director of the non-profit SETI Institute's Center for SETI Research. "My colleague Dr. Gerry Harp will step into the directorship role to continue our strong tradition of excellent research, freeing me up to focus on finding stable funding for it," Tarter, who joined the SETI project in the 1970s when it was run by NASA, said in a statement on Tuesday. "I want to make the endowment of SETI research a success, so that my colleagues now, and in the future, can focus on the search for extraterrestrial intelligence for all of us." Tarter, 68, took over as director of research at the privately funded SETI Institute when government support ended in 1993. Short for "search for extraterrestrial intelligence," SETI under Tarter's watch has overseen numerous research projects aimed at detecting alien life in the cosmos. One such project Tarter is credited with spearheading is Project Phoenix, a massive coordination of large-antenna radio receivers on three continents used to monitor electromagnetic radiation for signs of intentional transmissions that would indicate intelligent senders. The celebrated alien hunter's life was the inspiration for Project Argus director Ellie Arroway, the protagonist of Carl Sagan's 1985 novel Contact and the 1997 film of the same name. In the fictionalized account, Project Argus' efforts succeed in detecting communications for an extraterrestrial intelligence, something that Tarter and the SETI Institute have yet to accomplish. "SETI research experiments are funded by louis vuitton men 2012 private donations, limiting how quickly we can search these newly discovered planets for intelligent life. The best reason to support SETI research is because it is an investment in our own future," Tarter said in announcing her retirement this week. Tarter's move to a fund-raising role for the SETI Institute highlights the financial struggles the project has endured in recent years. The institute's Alien Telescope Array (ATA) was shut down temporarily in 2011 before a fundraising drive succeeded in reviving the effort last September. One of the donors to the cause was Foster, who said at the time, "The Allen Telescope Array could turn science fiction into science fact, but only if it is actively searching the skies." Tarter said that the discovery of Earth-like planets by NASA's Kepler spacecraft in recent years has made the continued pursuit of signs of extraterrestrial life more important than ever. "Kepler has been a paradigm shift—starting with the first data release in 2010 and second in 2011 and third in 2012, we have altered our SETI search strategy. We are no longer pointing our telescopes at Sun-like stars in hopes of finding something; we are now observing stars where we know there are planets," she said. Like the fictional heroine of Contact, Tarter remains driven by the possibility that an extraterrestrial species could teach humanity how to plot a successful through current troubles to a better future. "The scientist Phil Morrison said that, 'SETI is the archeology of the future.' Think about it. If we detect a signal, we could learn about their past, because of the time their signal took to reach us, and the possibility of our future," she said. "Successful detection means that, on average, technologies last for a long time," Tarter continued. "That's the only way another technological civilization white louis vuitton handbags can overlap with us in time and space. Understanding that it is possible to find solutions to our terrestrial problems and to become a very old civilization, because someone else has managed to do just that, is hugely important! Knowing that there can be a future may motivate us to achieve it."

NASA decides if Dragon is allowed to attempt to berth with the station

Hawthorne rocket developer SpaceX will try again Tuesday to launch its Dragon spacecraft to the International Space Station after its weekend attempt was called off half lv women shoes 2012 a second before liftoff. If Tuesday's launch is successful and NASA gives the on-orbit OK, Dragon would dock with the space station on Friday, according to Space Exploration Technologies Corp., as the company is officially known. The Tuesday launch time is 1:44 a.m. Pacific Time from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket would carry the Dragon into orbit. It would be the first time a commercial business has docked with the space station. The only four entities that have achieved this feat are governments - the United States, Russia, Japan and the European Union. Saturday's launch was aborted by a flight computer that detected slightly high pressure in the engine 5 combustion chamber as all nine of the rocket's engines ignited. Later that day, SpaceX engineers discovered the problem, a faulty check valve on the rocket's engine. "The failed valve was replaced on Saturday and, after thorough analysis, the vehicle has been cleared for launch," SpaceX said in a statement Monday. The launch has been delayed several times, but Saturday's near-liftoff was the closest the mission has come to leaving the launch pad. Dragon will carry supplies and experiments to lv handbags new arrival 2012 the space station. The mission is a test run to Advertisement determine whether SpaceX can supply the orbiting lab. To save money, NASA is turning to the private sector to perform the tasks previously done by the space shuttle, which was retired last year. SpaceX hopes to eventually shuttle astronauts back and forth between the space station and Earth, possibly in as little as four years. Other companies are also vying to prove they can safely reach the space station. To underscore the importance of SpaceX's launch, the company posted a photo on its Twitter site of Gen. William Shelton, commander of the Air Force Space Command, visiting the launch pad Monday. Thursday: Dragon's sensors and flight systems are subject to a series of complicated tests to determine if the vehicle is ready to berth with the space station; these tests include maneuvers and systems checks that will see the vehicle come within 1.5 miles of the station. Friday: NASA decides if Dragon is allowed to attempt to berth with the station. If so, Dragon approaches; it is captured by station's robotic arm and attached to the station. This requires extreme precision as both Dragon and station orbit the Earth every 90 minutes. Saturday - May 31: Astronauts open Dragon's hatch, popular louis vuitton handbags 2012 unload supplies and fill Dragon with return cargo. May 31: Dragon is detached from the station and returns to Earth, landing in the Pacific, hundreds of miles west of Southern California.

Munoz was defensive when asked about the win being controversial and tainted

Azahara Munoz is never going to forget her first LPGA Tour win. It was as emotional as it was controversial and possibly tainted. Munoz beat Candie Kung 2 and 1 on Sunday to win the lv shoes for women Sybase Match Play Championship, a title that was set up when Morgan Pressel was penalized for slow play while in control of their semifinal match. Pressel was one of the first to hug and congratulate Munoz, her good friend, but she also had to be feeling this could have been her first win since 2008 just as easily. It all reverted to the morning semifinal in which Munoz and Pressel were both slow, although Munoz was admittedly a little slower. They were warned about slow play after nine holes and put on the clock after No. 11. The 12th hole changed everything. Pressel won it with a par to seemingly take a 3-up lead. However, before she could tee off on No. 13, tour official Doug Brecht informed her that she was being penalized for slow play. She had taken 2:09 to play her three shots, 39 seconds over the 30-second limit per shot. In match play, a time penalty is the loss of the previous hole and that handed the admittedly slow-playing Munoz the hole. She was 1-down and back in the match. "It was tough timing because it was a really big, I think, turning point in the match, going from 2-up to 3-up, and then all of a sudden back to 1-up," said Pressel, who was on the verge of tears several times in a post-match news conference after she beat Vicky Hurst 2 and 1 in the consolation match. "You know, it was — I mean, it was really unfortunate." The time penalty was the first for Pressel in seven years on the tour and it left a very bad taste in her mouth, knowing Munoz was the slower player. "I think that slow play is one of our biggest problems on tour," Pressel said. "You know, I think that what bothers me the most is that we were given sufficient warning and she really didn't do anything to speed up and then I was penalized for it." Munoz said was apologetic, adding she was surprised Pressel was penalized. "I know I was slow and I really apologized for that louis vuitton earrings discount and I told her, but I do feel both of us were slow and she was the only one getting penalized, and that was not fair and I know that," Munoz said. "I would never make her lose a hole." The penalty didn't end the controversy. Munoz evened the match with a birdie at No. 15, a stroke that was delayed when Pressel contended the Spaniard touched the line of her putt before striking the ball. Match referee Marty Robinson had two committee officials away from the 15th review the videotape of the one camera angle they had of the hole. Robinson said they could not see any evidence of a rule being broken. Munoz then made her putt. Pressel lost the match when she bogeyed the next two holes, missing a 3-foot par putt at No. 17. "It's an unfortunate situation," said Heather Daly-Donofrio, the senior vice president of tour operations. "This is one of those days where it is very tough to be an LPGA official. It's not an easy thing to deliver a pace of play penalty to a player in a situation like this." Daly-Donofrio said two other players have been penalized for slow play this year and five were penalized last year. Pressel was the only one disciplined in the tournament, although two others face fines for slow play. When asked about officials deciding events instead of the players, Daly-Donofrio said that USGA rules have to be upheld. Rule 6-7 says players must play without such delays and it's up to the tour to apply its policy. Daly-Donofrio said slow play is a concern throughout golf, which was evident on the PGA Tour last week when Kevin Na was very slow at The Players Championship. However the PGA Tour has not handed out a slow play stroke penalty in more than a decade. The afternoon matches were almost anticlimactic. Munoz, an NCAA champion at Arizona State, took a 2-up lead at Nos. 11 and 12 when Kung ran into problems and never lost it. Munoz was defensive when asked about the win being controversial and tainted. "I don't care what — you guys are the ones that are going to say that, not people," said Munoz, who earned $375,000. "You guys can say whatever you want to. You know, I didn't do anything wrong. She lost the hole because she was slow, I wasn't. I was slow before, but not when the clock was on and that's when you can't be slow." Kung, who beat top-ranked Yani Tseng in the third round and topped Hurst 2 and 1 in the semifinals, earned $225,000 in just missing her chance to win for the first time since 2008. Pressel played a bogey-free 5 under for 17 holes in beating Hurst in the third-place match. "It was extremely difficult,' said Pressel, who louis vuitton shoes 2012 new luxury cheap made $150,000. "It's certainly, the last place I wanted to be was on the golf course." Hurst, who was looking for her first tour win, earned $112,500.

Although he wasn't speaking about Gaborik specifically

John Tortorella's brief, mostly snarky, often caustic encounters with the media covering these playoffs have become an ongoing, mildly amusing sideshow. While the media may not like it, they're not the designerburberyoutlet story. And how the New York Rangers head coach treats them or mistreats them, as the case may be, is really moot when it comes to the outcome of this series with the New Jersey Devils, which is now tied at one game apiece. What is not moot, however, is the high-stakes game of poker Tortorella is playing with his lineup as he tries to coax more offense and fewer mistakes out of his crew. Specifically, Tortorella is squarely on the line because of his decision to bench the team's highest-paid player (in terms of annual cap hit), Marian Gaborik, for most of the third period after a costly turnover led to the Devils' tying goal in Game 2. Of course, on the line is exactly where Tortorella has spent most of his coaching career. And it's not as if Tortorella doesn't have a history of coming down on his players for miscues. Go back to his days with the Tampa Bay Lightning, with whom he won a Stanley Cup in 2004, and the Lightning's biggest stars, Martin St. Louis, Vincent Lecavalier and his current go-to guy in New York Brad Richards, weren't spared time stapled to the bench for various misdeeds. That's life with Tortorella, and he'll make no apologies for the way he conducts his business. "I think all coaches do it. You're trying to put players into situations that are going to try to help you to win games or help you in certain situations and momentum swings. Conversely, some guys when you just don't think it's working, they don't see the ice or they don't get the minutes. So those are decisions that we make every game," Tortorella said Thursday during one of his more loquacious encounters with the media this playoff year. "You guys like calling them benchings and all that stuff, but as coaches we're trying to find a way to win a hockey game, and we make decisions accordingly." Tortorella made a point of saying the blame for Game 2's www.designerburberyoutlet.com loss doesn't lie with any one player. Yet, he also pointed to the Devils' second goal as a key moment in the game. Gaborik failed to clear the puck from the Rangers' zone and moments later fourth-line center Ryan Carter deflected home a Bryce Salvador shot to tie the game at 2-2 with 1:51 left in the second period. "I thought the second goal they scored at the end of the period to tie it up was a really big play in that game, and that's not an offensive play, that's a defensive play and we get hurt there," Tortorella said. Gaborik went more than half the third period before getting his first shift. He played 3:07 later in the third period, but was not on the ice in the final moments with netminder Henrik Lundqvist on the bench for an extra attacker. The sniper acknowledged to reporters after the game that he has to be better in that situation. He also indicated he wants to be on the ice during those critical situations late in games. These kinds of decisions are a high-wire act at the best of times. In the playoffs, where every loss is another step toward watching from the sidelines, you can't afford to be wrong. As a coach, and especially the coach of a team whose work ethic is part of its DNA, making a statement that soft play won't be tolerated has to be balanced against hampering your team's ability to win. Had Gaborik played more would the Rangers' chances of tying and winning Game 2 have gone up? No one can answer that definitively, but a man who scored 41 times during the regular season and has shown flashes of that talent in the postseason, where he has scored four more including a triple-overtime game winner, would seem to be the kind of guy who would enhance your chances of finding a much-needed goal. The Rangers have not scored more than three goals in any game since their first outing against Ottawa, a stretch of 15 games. And when you've got other weapons that are struggling -- like captain Ryan Callahan, who has just one goal in his last 12 games -- maybe there was a better way to make such a stand. But if your coaching philosophy is based on consistency and you have consistently shown that players will be treated in a certain manner if they fail to get the job done, then maybe Tortorella had no other option but to do as he did. When you have a potential game-breaker on the bench in a one-goal game, "that's a pretty clear message," former Lightning captain Dave Andreychuk told ESPN.com Thursday. Not that any of this is a surprise to Andreychuk, who louis vuitton sunglasses 2012 was the first to hoist the Cup in June 2004 when the Lightning defeated Calgary in seven games. "We went through that here with Vinny [Lecavalier]. He was hard on him. He demanded a lot of him and I truly believe he got the best out of him," Andreychuk said of Tortorella. "But it's always truly about the team. He's not going to cover anything up or let things slide. That's what I respected more than anything else about him." As for Tortorella's running skirmish with the media, Andreychuk said he and St. Louis talked about it while playing golf Thursday. They both believe it is purely an effort by Tortorella to take pressure off the players by creating a distraction. Andreychuk recalled the war of words between then Philadelphia Flyers head coach Ken Hitchcock and GM Bob Clarke and Tortorella during the 2004 Eastern Conference finals. The Lightning understood then that this was a way of deflecting attention and giving the team breathing room. "That's John. That's what he does," Andreychuk said. Although he wasn't speaking about Gaborik specifically, Tortorella did address the balance between adjusting the Rangers' game plan and simply finding more will to win with Game 3 set for Saturday afternoon in Newark, N.J. "I think as you're involved in the playoffs and the further you go in it, you're looking for big plays at key times," Tortorella said. "We have found our way. One of the most important ingredients for us to be consistent and to be able to play at this time of the year is really to play as a team and not have any one specific guy be the guy. "So to answer your question, I think it's not just one men suits 2012 person that we're looking to get hot. We're looking for the group of them to continue to play under our team concept, but also someone step up each and every period or each and every game or a key time to make a big play, and I think that's where you find your way."

Lawrie expected a rapid rise to stardom

Competitive fire at its ugliest was on display Tuesday night at Rogers Centre, where the only thing worse than home-plate umpire Bill Miller's ball-strike calls was Brett Lawrie's raging reaction to them. By now, you've likely seen the video of Lawrie losing his mind, firing his helmet to the dirt in the direction of Miller after two very controversial -- and very incorrect -- called third strikes. The helmet bounced and struck Miller in the leg, and, while it was pretty obvious Lawrie's intent was not to strike Miller, the ricochet rightly earned Lawrie a four-game suspension, handed down Wednesday by MLB. This is the unsightly side of the aggressive instincts that have pushed Lawrie to the brink of greatness. This unfortunate incident aside, the 22-year-old Lawrie is an absolute joy to watch. He has power, he has speed, and he always turns it up to 11 when he takes the field. "It may look full bore to you guys," he told me earlier this season, "but that's my even keel." Perhaps more than anything, Lawrie has attitude -- LOUIS VUTTION MEN SHOES SALE and it's the type of attitude that makes him a beloved teammate and a loathed opponent. His attitude is the reason he had some clashes with the Brewers, who drafted him 16th overall in 2008 and groomed him, only to cut him loose in the Shaun Marcum trade at the end of 2010. Lawrie expected a rapid rise to stardom, because that's what great athletes expect of themselves. But he became frustrated with the Brewers' timetable (the club didn't promote him in September 2010, requesting instead that he go to the Arizona Fall League), and the two sides had a falling out. This has absolutely nothing to do with what happened Tuesday night, and yet it has everything to do with what happened Tuesday night. For Lawrie is a fierce competitor -- even by fierce-competitor standards -- and, when he felt disrespected by Miller, his attitude, his instincts, his competitive fire all exploded out of the bottle. "It's just my passion for the game," he said afterward, in what seemed to be a heartfelt apology. "I wanted to help my teammates out as best I could. That's the pride I have in this game. I leave my emotions out on the field." Clearly, Lawrie took it way too far in this instance. And what of Miller's role in all this? Surely, his actions must be questioned on some level. Umpires are human, and an analysis of ball-strike counts in any big league ballgame will uncover a multitude of mistakes. That's not the issue here. But when one reviews Tuesday's incident, it's hard not to come away with at least the slightest impression that Miller was trying to teach the kid a lesson, rather than calling the pitches as-is. Remember, this was a one-run game in which the Blue Jays were trailing the Rays by one run with none on and one out in the ninth. The stakes were high. Fernando Rodney's 3-1 offering was several inches off the outside part of the plate, and Lawrie dropped his bat and sprinted toward first before Miller slowly and deliberately made the motion for strike two. If Miller simply got the ball-strike call wrong, so be it. Happens all the time. And Lawrie should have done the right thing and dutifully retreated to the batter's box. Instead, he showed Miller up by making a more exaggerated return to the box, staring Miller down and voicing his disagreement via body language (if not more vulgar language muttered under his breath). It should have ended there. But it didn't. Rodney's next pitch was way high, just as obviously ball four. Lawrie laid off it, but Miller rang him up anyway. It is entirely possible that Miller truly felt both pitches were strikes. It is also entirely possible that after a kid in his first full big league season showed him up, Miller decided to retaliate. If the former is the case, then, again, so be it. But if it's the latter, then Miller was not performing his duties. Whatever the case, Lawrie is ultimately in the wrong here for letting his temper take over. Lawrie does not seem to be a Milton Bradley-type hothead. He's just hyper-competitive, and that was a hyper-competitive situation in which to be hosed. He had a right to be upset, certainly, but his actions were not justifiable, and the suspension is. Joe Torre, MLB's final authority for discipline issues, louis vuitton t shirts for women was right to recognize the lack of obvious intent, which could have resulted in a much longer suspension. The takeaway here is that sometimes the competitive instincts that inspire us to great feats can also bring out our worst qualities. That was certainly the case with Lawrie, and it's possible that was the case with Miller, too. It was also the case with the angry fan in the front row, who threw a nearly full cup of beer at Miller's shoulder as he left the field.

It was the first crash of a Sukhoi Superjet 100,

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta on Tuesday ordered the Air Force to take new steps to address an undiagnosed safety problem with its Lockheed Martin Corp.-made F-22 LOUIS VUTTION MEN SHOES SALE fighter jet, including limiting the distances it can fly between landing zones. The new restriction does not affect the war effort in Afghanistan because no F-22s are deployed there. The fighter has never flown in combat with the only F-22s operating overseas in the United Arab Emirates, where they recently arrived for training missions. The limit on flight distances, however, means the routine mission of patrolling U.S. airspace in Alaska will be done by other aircraft, officials said. The Panetta order is an unusual intervention at the highest level of the Pentagon in a service-specific problem, and it may be seen by some -- including critics of the F-22 program on Capitol Hill -- as a sign of the program's political vulnerability. The Air Force acknowledged last week that some of its aviators are refusing to fly the radar-evading F-22 Raptor, whose pilots in some cases have complained about oxygen-deficit problems which have caused dizziness, blackouts and other symptoms that arise when the body doesn't receive enough oxygen. The Air Force has been unable to determine the root cause of the problem. Panetta's chief spokesman, George Little, told reporters that Panetta supports the Air Force's efforts to get to the bottom of the problem. "However, the safety of our pilots remains his first and louis vuitton hoodie men foremost concern," Little said. "Therefore, in addition to those measures already taken by the Air Force to mitigate risks to our pilots, he is directing the Air Force to take three additional measures." Panetta ordered an acceleration of an existing Air Force effort to install an automatic backup oxygen system in every F-22; directed that all F-22 flights remain "within the proximity of potential landing locations" so that they can land quickly in the event they encounter a physiological problem in the cockpit; and he told the Air Force to provide him with a monthly report on progress toward finding the root cause of the problem. Indonesian authorities said Wednesday that they had found part of the flight recorder of the Russian passenger jet that crashed into the side of a volcano during a demonstration flight last week, killing 45 people. Searchers retrieved the cockpit voice recorder, which records communication between pilots and air traffic controllers, but have so far been unable to locate the flight data recorder, said Vice Marshal Daryatmo, head of the National Search and Rescue Agency. He said the voice recorder would be brought to burberry bags outlet Jakarta for analysis. Rescue workers found no surivors from the Sukhoi Superjet 100, Russia's newest passenger plane, which slammed into Mount Salak after disappearing from radar screens on May 9. Most of the wreckage of the plane is on a steep slope at an altitude of 6,000 feet, making it difficult to reach. The Indonesian and Russian authorities are investigating the cause of the crash, which remains unclear. The plane was on a demonstration flight for Indonesian Ministry of Transportation officials and representatives of Indonesian airlines. It was the first crash of a Sukhoi Superjet 100, according to the Russian state-run news agency RIA Novosti. The plane was on its second demonstration flight of the day when it lost contact with air controllers at Jakarta's Halim Perdanakusuma Airport. The Sukhoi jet arrived in Jakarta as part of a demonstration tour of six Asian countries. It had been to Myanmar, Pakistan and Kazakhstan, and was scheduled burberry outlet to visit Laos and Vietnam after Indonesia, RIA Novosti said. Sukhoi manufactures military aircraft and is known especially for its fighter jets. Its civilian aircraft is narrow-bodied with a dual-class cabin that can transport 100 passengers over regional routes.

Prof Ohayon said although although more research is needed

Scientists found one in every 25 adults are cheap louis vuitton sunglasses prone to night time wandering, with 29.2 per cent reporting some form of sleepwalking since childhood. The study also showed an association between nocturnal disruption and certain psychiatric disorders, such as depression and anxiety. The researchers said the study "underscores the fact that sleepwalking is much more prevalent in adults than previously appreciated." Lead author Maurice Ohayon, professor of psychiatry and behavioural sciences at Stanford University School of Medicinein the United States, said: "Apart from a study we did 10 years ago in the European general population, where we reported a prevalence of two per cent of sleepwalking, there are nearly no data regarding the prevalence of nocturnal wanderings in the adult general population." The researchers studied nearly 20,000 members of the public in 15 US states, using a telephone survey to build up a picture of their mental health, medical history and medication use. From they, they asked them specific questions related louis vuitton jewelry to sleepwalking, including frequency of episodes during sleep, duration of the sleep disorder and any inappropriate or potentially dangerous behaviour during sleep. Those who did not report any episodes in the last year were then asked if they had sleepwalked during their childhood. The researchers determined that as many as 3.6 per cent of the sample reported at least one episode of sleepwalking in the previous year, with one per cent saying they had two or more episodes in a month. More than 80 per cent of those who reported sleepwalking as adults said they have done it for more than five years, with a third having a family history of the condition. It found sleepwalking was not associated with gender and seemed to decrease with age. Those with depression were 3.5 times more likely to sleepwalk than those without, and people who abused or are dependant on alcohol or suffer cheap burberry bags obsessive-compulsive disorder were also significantly more likely to have sleepwalking episodes. People taking SSRI antidepressants were three times more likely to sleepwalk twice a month or more than those who took none. Prof Ohayon said: "There is no doubt an association between nocturnal wanderings and certain conditions, but we don't know the direction of the causality. "Are the medical conditions provoking sleepwalking, or is it vice versa? Or perhaps it's the treatment that is responsible." Prof Ohayon said although although more research is needed, the work could help raise awareness of the association among primary care physicians. He added: "We're not expecting them to diagnose cheap burberry bag brown fashion on sale 2012 sleepwalking, but they might detect symptoms that could be indices of sleepwalking." The findings were published in the journal Neurology.

But Dzeko headed in a tying goal in the second minute of stoppage

“We didn’t deserve to lose, we had a lot of chances and we deserved to win the game and championship,” Mancini said. “It’s fantastic for the club and the supporters cheap louis vuitton sunglasses after 44 years.” It was the first time the English title was decided in such tense circumstances since 1989. Arsenal and Liverpool had the same number of points and same goal difference, but Arsenal won the title on total goals. “I never stopped believing,” Kompany said. “When Edin scored that goal, it reminded me of so many other moments during the season when we’ve done this before. There was no reason not to believe.” QPR entered the game having lost six straight on the road and with the worst road record in the league. Yet City struggled to break down an opponent that had been facing relegation but survived in the top tier. The QPR net was finally breached in the 39th minute when goalkeeper Paddy Kenny flapped at Pablo Zabaleta’s shot while on his knees and palmed the ball over himself into the net. A blunder by City then nearly led to them throwing away the title. Joleon Lescott went to make a simple headed clearance. Instead, he knocked the ball backward and Djibril Cisse seized on the defender’s mistake by driving a shot past Joe Hart. City’s task seemed to be made easier when former player Joey Barton lost his cool and threw an elbow at Carlos Tevez as a cross came into the penalty area from Zabaleta. The QPR captain was seething after receiving a red card and kneed Aguero as he left the field. Both sides had to placate the raging player, who was dragged to the sideline. Despite City enjoying the man advantage, QPR went in front on a rare counterattack. Armand Traore was given space to go down the left flank. Hen then picked out unmarked Jamie discount louis vuitton handbags sale Mackie in the penalty area and he sent a downward header past Hart in the 66th. Half an hour later, though, City emerged as 3-2 winners and champions of England. “When we were losing 2-1, I thought, ‘We’ll score one goal and we’re still going to lose,’” Zabaleta said. “I don’t want to wake up from this. You just look at the players and the fans, everybody deserves this. “The most important thing for any team is when you believe. If you believe in yourself you win. We believed until the last minute.” In Sunderland, United’s players left the field stunned by what had unfolded. Fans stood with hands on heads in bewildered silence. “It’s a cruel way (to lose the title),” Ferguson said. “We’ve experienced many ups and downs in the 25 years I’ve been here, most of them have been great. We’ve won the title three times on the last day; today we nearly did it.” Associated Press writer Mark Walsh contributed to this report from Sunderland. Copyright 2012 The Associated Press. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed. In the closing moments of the Premier League’s most dramatic season, Manchester City had just enough time for one final, breathtaking twist. With the club’s title hopes fading by the second, its anguished fans in disbelief in the stands, relegation-threatened Queens Park Rangers clung to a one-goal lead after 90 minutes. City then threw all its attacking might forward to produce one of English soccer’s greatest comebacks. Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero scored during injury time in a 3-2 victory that gave City its first league title since 1968. City finished ahead of crosstown rival Manchester United on goal difference. “It’s a crazy finish for a crazy season,” City manager Roberto Mancini said. “I’ve never seen a final like this.” No one had. After a season in which the title race shifted back and burberry handbags forth between the Manchester clubs, City appeared to have thrown it all away on the final day. It let 10-man QPR rally from a goal down to take the lead in the second half while United completed a 1-0 victory at Sunderland. But Dzeko headed in a tying goal in the second minute of stoppage time to give City fans hope. Aguero then clinched the title when he slalomed through the QPR defense and blasted the ball into the net. As Mancini raised his hands and ran along the sideline, Aguero — the son-in-law of Diego Maradona — tore his shirt off in jubilation before he was mobbed by teammates. “He was crying on the floor,” City captain Vincent Kompany said. “All the guys were pouring their eyes out. You don’t see strong personalities like that showing their emotion so often.” Moments earlier, United completed its victory at Sunderland and was lingering on the field in northeast England, waiting for the final result of the City game and ready to start celebrating title No. 20. Instead, a party 44 years in the making burst into life back in the blue half of Manchester as fans flooded the City field and exploded blue smoke canisters. “Miracles do happen in Manchester,” Kompany said. “This time it’s on this side of the road.” Now United — on the other side of the road — will have to live with the fact that the club once dismissed by manager Alex Ferguson as a “noisy neighbor” is now a serious threat to its supremacy. “I’d like to say, on behalf of Manchester United, congratulations to our neighbors — a fantastic achievement to win the Premier League,” Ferguson said. United had won 12 of its 19 titles since City last won the English championship for just the second time in 1968. City has since had to climb back into the Premier League from the depths of the third tier in 1999. But it became a credible title challenger after a takeover by Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Mansour, who has invested more than $1 billion into the club over three years hoping to build a powerhouse. “It was really important to start winning this cheap burberry bag brown fashion on sale 2012 championship,” Mancini said. “Manchester City can have a big future now.” City rose to the summit after overturning an eight-point lead United held five weeks ago.

Inevitably there are tax issues on the way out

Warner Bros. kick-started a so-so domestic run Thursday at midnight for Tim Burton's Johnny Depp starrer ''Dark Shadows,'' which collected an estimated $550,000 from approximately 1,600 late-night locations. The PG-13-rated ''Dark Shadows'' was cheap louis vuitton sunglasses projected as of yesterday afternoon to hit in the mid-$30 million range through Sunday, with a potential $40 million upside. Midnights would suggest a bow closer to the former. For comparison, last summer's ''Cowboys and Aliens'' grossed $800,000 in midnights and wound up earning $36 million during its opening weekend. ''Super 8,'' which debuted to $35 million last June, earned $500,000 from midnights. Rarely do midnight grosses tell the whole story, however. ''Dark Shadows'' is tracking best with women over-25, who typically are not first-responders. The film's midnight start also does not account for word-of-mouth building throughout the weekend, though ''Shadows'' has received mostly mixed reviews. Overseas, ''Dark Shadows'' got off to a strong start, particularly in France, where the pic ranked No. 1 on Wednesday with $770,000 -- 19% ahead of the local opening-day gross for ''Sweeney Todd.'' ''Dark Shadows'' bows this weekend in a total 42 offshore markets; pic's Stateside rollout includes 3,755 locations. More? As Mr. Zuckerberg prepares to pay over a billion in taxes, Mr. Saverin renounced his U.S. citizenship ahead of the company’s IPO. In fact, it turns out he did it a good deal ahead of the IPO, and that’s likely to matter. This is actually old news, dating to September 30, 2011 when the IPO was a pipedream. But the information didn’t become public until Bloomberg reported that the IRS released his name on April 30. Born and raised in Brazil before moving to the U.S. in 1992, the 30-year old Mr. Saverin now lives in Singapore. Rivers on using more Ryan Hollins than rookie Greg Stiemsma

Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers said Paul Pierce will attempt to play through the pain of a sprained MCL in his left knee, but is uncertain how the team will compensate louis vuitton sunglasses 2012 if the injury continues to be a hindrance to the team captain. "Honestly, it's not the best situation, but he's going to play," Rivers said. "We just gotta figure out what he can do on the floor. It's tough. He's a scorer, and I think Paul can score in any situation, but for us, we just have to figure out what the most effective way for him to be effective. And the only way we're going to know that is with the game being played. So we'll see." Pierce suffered the injury on Sunday after tripping over a teammate's foot in a shootaround before Game 4, then aggravated it while banging knees with Josh Smith that same night. Pierce played through pain to score 24 points over 16½ minutes in Game 4, but really labored after the first quarter in Game 5. Rivers admitted the knee hasn't shown much improvement since then. "He said he had a little more life, just energy wise, but the knee feels the same way," Rivers said. And Rivers admitted it could get worse. "There's always that possibility -- when you louis vuitton hair pins sprain anything, especially a knee, the possibility that it could get worse is absolutely there," Rivers said. Pierce wasn't able to get to the basket in Tuesday's Game 5 loss and that prevented him from getting to the free-throw line. Rivers said the team has to find other ways to generate scoring if Pierce is limited again. "Well, he's not going to get to the line as much, we know that, that's just what it is," Rivers said. "So we have to create other ways -- get Kevin (Garnett) in the post more, (but) they are trapping him more, so it's tough for him to get to the line as well. But (Pierce's injury) clearly takes something away from us, and we just have to find other ways to score." In other pregame notes: Hawks coach Larry Drew said injured center Zaza Pachulia (sprained left foot) went through shootaround Thursday, but will not play in Game 6. When the Hawks shifted their lineup before Game 5 to move Joe Johnson to shooting guard, Rivers considered countering to negate the height advantage Johnson owns over Avery Bradley, but elected not to, in part to maintain Bradley's confidence as a starter. "We thought about it, but cheap burberry bags Avery's a young kid, even if we have to make a move early, we'd rather do that than take him out of the lineup," Rivers said. Rivers said he wasn't certain what was causing Mickael Pietrus' shooting woes in this opening-round series. "I really don't know. We need him, we need him to play well tonight," Rivers said. "I don't know if (injuries are) the reason. Shots are just not going in right now. I think when your shot doesn't go in and you're not (an elite) player, your confidence obviously struggles a little bit. I think he's going through that some as well." Rivers on using more Ryan Hollins than rookie Greg Stiemsma at center in recent games: "(Hollins) is playing better; It's a competition. Always. And Ryan is cheap burberry bag brown fashion on sale 2012 playing terrific for us. Ryan's minutes, on the floor with Kevin, are unbelievable. When you put him and Kevin on the floor at the same time, that's our best defensive team. That's good for us."

It's something I think Mo will talk to you guys about

Andy Pettitte will be back on the mound in the Bronx http://www.designerburberyoutlet.com/ on Sunday, and the New York Yankees are hoping he can again be a reliable presence in their rotation. Pettitte is set to start against the Seattle Mariners in his first major league outing since retiring after the 2010 postseason. "I think it will be a great day at the Stadium," manager Joe Girardi said. The lefty, who turns 40 next month, returned to the team in spring training and has made four minor league starts. Even though Pettitte was shaky over five innings in a Triple-A start Sunday, general manager Brian Cashman says the time is right. "I think everybody's in agreement that he's not going to really benefit from any more time down there," Cashman said. One thing the Yankees management does agree designerburberyoutlet on is the rotation needs help. Expected to be a strong part of the team after the addition of Hiroki Kuroda and Michael Pineda in the offseason, the Yankees' rotation has struggled this to a 5.54 ERA and a .292 opponents' batting average - only Minnesota and Colorado have worse averages against. Pineda is out for season following shoulder surgery and Freddy Garcia was demoted to the bullpen. Rookie David Phelps is scheduled to make his second start against Tampa Bay on Wednesday, then is a likely candidate to return to the bullpen. But Girardi would not say whose spot Pettitte will take. Pettitte is 240-138 in 13 years with the Yankees and three with Houston. He was a steady force in the Yankees' rotation for five World Series championships and is a fan favorite as one of the Core Four with Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera and Jorge Posada. Cashman, though, is trying to be realistic in his louis vuitton sunglasses expectations for Pettitte, who will be making his first big league start in 573 days, since Game 3 of the AL championship series against Texas on Oct. 18, 2010. "There's still the unknown," Cashman said. "There's a gap between what the old Andy Pettitte is and what we're going to get? I just don't know yet. But we're looking forward to adding another healthy arm to the mix here because depth has been challenged and some of our healthy starters inconsistent. It would be nice to obviously start pulling together a string of consistently strong starts by all of our starters one through five and, hopefully, that could include Andy." Pettitte already has completed his testimony at Roger Clemens' trial in Washington, D.C. so that shouldn't weigh in his mind. He will be facing one of only two AL teams he doesn't have a winning record against: He's 11-11 against Seattle and 8-8 versus Cleveland. His locker - the same one he occupied in his last season with the Yankees - is filling with gear that includes 10 pairs of footwear and a full mail basket. Pettitte will be working out in Westchester, where he has a New York home, until he is added to the big league roster Sunday. Tampa Bay rays manager Joe Maddon thinks Pettitte louis vuitton womenswear will have an immediate positive influence on the team regardless of his performance in his first few starts. "You can't underestimate what he's going to do for the clubhouse being minus the other guy," Maddon said, referring to closer Mariano Rivera, who is likely out for the season with a torn knee ligament. Cashman said there had been a complication with Rivera's medical exams Monday in New York but wouldn't say what it was. Rivera saw team physician Dr. Christopher Ahmad at New York Presbyterian Hospital and by Dr. Russell Warren, a knee specialist at the Hospital for Special Surgery. Rivera's agent, Fernando Cuza, said Dr. David Altchek, who performed surgery on the pitcher's shoulder following the 2008 season, also looked at him. "It's something I think Mo will talk to you guys about," Cashman said. "It doesn't affect anything for next year." He did say that the injury sustained while shagging fly balls last week in Kanasas City is fixable. "It's all about next year," Cashman said. NOTES: RHP Jose Campos, obtained from Seattle along with Pineda, went on the disabled list of Charleston, S.C., with elbow inflammation. Pineda is sidelined for the Louis vuitton white sunglasses 2012 new style outlet season following shoulder surgery. The Yankees sent C Jesus Montero and RHP Hector Noesi to the Mariners in the trade. ... Brett Gardner played in left field for Triple-A Scranton-Wilkes/Barre in the first game of a doubleheader Tuesday night as part of his rehabilitation for a strained right elbow. He singled twice in three at-bats.

Burton continued as both of them chuckled at the idea

It was the Mother of All Publicity Stunts for louis vuitton sunglasses Sacha Baron Cohen — and one that may set relations with the Muslim world back to the Crusades. Dressed in full character from his upcoming movie “The Dictator,” and borrowing a page from the late Moammar Khadafy, he was surrounded by a phalanx of the hottest female security guards this side of Tripoli. Two dozen “supporters” cheered on His Excellency General Admiral Aladeen, waving placards at the Waldorf-Astoria with Cohen’s portrait and slogans like “Give Persecution a Chance.” “Welcome devils of the Zionist media and death to the West,” announced Cohen, who is Jewish himself but plays the despot of the fictional Northern African nation of Wadiya in the flick that opens May 16. He answered a series of pre-screened questions, http://www.designerburberyoutlet.com/ including one from The Daily News asking whom he’d endorse in the U.S. presidential election. He said he really liked the conservative Rick Santorum, whose policies Cohen, in character, called too liberal.“In terms of policies, I’d have to say the Republicans if they would only become a little less extreme. There are some real double standards, what people call genocide in my country, is called the judicial system in Texas.” “But if it was money I was giving, then I give my full support to Mitt Romney. He has the makings of a great dicator. He incredibly wealthy but pays no taxes, and it’s not much of a leap to go from firing people to firing squads and from putting pets on the top of the car to putting political dissidents on top of them.” We're fully aware of the fact that Tim Burton and Johnny Depp have very full schedules at the moment, given all their various projects like "Dark Shadows," Burton's "Frankenweenie," Depp's "The Lone Ranger," another "Pirates of the Carribean" movie, etc. But can we get Burton to designerburberyoutlet free up his schedule sometime soon in order to film a "Beetlejuice" sequel already? Because Burton has already expressed interest in exploring another "Beetlejuice" film with star Michael Keaton and "Shadows" screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith, when MTV News caught up with the busy director and frequent collaborator Depp recently, we threw in a question about what chance there might be in seeing Depp in the film, if it ever happens. Tim Burton And Johnny Depp Talk Possible 'Beetlejuice' Sequel "Ugh," Burton replied, playfully scoffing at the question. "Yeah, Tim," Depp reacted, adding emphasis for his friend to answer the question. "This is my last movie," Burton continued as both of them chuckled at the idea. "You'll be playing Jeffrey Jones," he said to Depp, which sent the actor into further louis vuitton jewelry giggles. "Yeah," Depp laughed. "I can play Jeffrey, I think." "We can make it work," Burton said. Now, whether Burton meant that Depp should play the character that actor Jeffrey Jones originated in "Beetlejuice" or that he should actually play Jeffrey Jones, that's up for interpretation. On a more serious note, writer Grahame-Smith is definitely planning on delivering a script to Burton this year. "I am hopefully going to write it this year," Grahame-Smith told MTV News recently. "I've gone and met with Tim Burton about it, I've gone and met with Michael Keaton about it. In theory everybody would be open to it if the script is good, so now it's just my job to make sure the script is good." Additionally, Grahame-Smith is also in favor 2012 louis vuitton men black/white shoes fashion best online sale of including a role for Depp. "I may not be able to avoid it — [Burton] may make me do it," he said of Depp getting involved.
